How to Easily Transition from Summer to Fall Home Decor

How to Easily Transition from Summer to Fall Home Decorfeatured

Summer always seems to come to an end so abruptly. After the fourth of July, there is back to school prep and excitement (for parents) and then we blast into Fall.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Everything from the leaves changing beautiful colors to warm fall breads to fluffy socks and a fireplace. Fall just leaves you feeling warm and cozy inside.

Transitioning from Summer to Fall decor can seem sudden but here are some ways to easily incorporate Fall into your home.

◊ Fall Wreath

You cannot go wrong with a wreath. It's a staple for seasonal decor. In the past, wreaths were only seen during Christmas time but now wreaths decorate doors year round. A wreath can be placed in the entryway, on a fireplace mantel, dinning table or front door. Check out this DIY wreath at Michales.com and make your own Autumn inspired wreath.

◊ Soft Light & Scented Candles

Nothing says Fall to me more than a wonderfully scented candle. I love scents that remind me of fresh baked sweets especially in the Fall. My husband will usually come home frantically looking for cakes and pies.

My favorite Fall scents are Pumpkin Spice, Anything Cinnamon such as Cinnamon Apple or Vanilla or Chai, Pecan Pie, Sandalwood and Leaves.

Aromatherapy candles are a must year round (you can never have enough). Lanterns and candles give soft, warm light that will cozy up a space.

◊ Add Wood Pieces

Start adding small wood pieces to your decor. Bring out your favorite wood bowl to place fruits in, wooden serving trays or wood planter for your fall flowers. This is a picture displaying the basil that I grew this summer and wood bowl.

◊ Fall Garland

I love garland. Why? Because there is garland for every season at Michaels...lol. Garland can be used on your entryway or console table, fireplace mantel or dinning room table. It is a simple and easy way to bring in Fall colors and textures. Crate&Barrel used birchwood logs to create this rustic mantel garland with pinecones and berry twigs.

◊ Fall Table Setting

Setting the table with Autumn decor is a sure way to get you in the mood for Fall. This look was easily brought together with berry twigs, acorn napkin holder and handwritten tag.

For a dinner party it would be super special to write a note to each guest on the back of the tag. For example, write why you are thankful for each person.

◊ Comfy Pillow Covers and Throws

Add comfortable fabrics throughout your home to bring in the Fall season. This can easily be done by swapping pillow covers and adding throws. Some popular warms colors for Fall are olive green, cognac brown, mustard yellow, burnt orange and burgundy. Mixing metals with these colors will surely make it pop!

◊ Coffee Station with Fall Flavors

What a better way to bring in Fall than through your taste buds! Set up a Fall coffee station with flavors such as butter toffee, bourbon pecan and cinnamon roll. This is sure to keep you awake and energized throughout the day.

◊ Autumn Inspired Outdoor Patio

Don't put up the outdoor furniture just yet!

Cool fall nights are great for family and friends to gather and socialize without the blistering heat of summer. Adding  pumpkins, string lights or lanterns, and some comfy fall fabrics will bring Fall to the outdoor patio.

Now let's pack up those pineapples, sea shells and pool tubes and store them away for crisp days and warm cozy nights.

You got this!
