Wood Jewelry Stand DIY

Wood Jewelry Stand DIYfeatured

Today I am going to show you how to make a jewelry stand that can sit on a table top or vanity. I like this particular design because it can hold about 10-12 pairs of earrings and rings and bracelets! The best type of earring for this stand is the dangle earring with hook ear wire. Earrings with metal post are challenging to use for this design ( I will make another project for these in the future). I used cedar wood for this project because that is what I had left over from another project. Since you do not need much wood for this project, feel free to use scrap wood that you have laying around or pick up a few pieces at your local home improvement store. The overall dimensions for this stand are 13 3/4 x 14 .

Materials

  • 2 - 1x4x24 inch pieces of cedar or wood of your choice
  • Pocket hold jig
  • 2 - 1 in hardwood pocket screws
  • Wood clamps
  • 4 - 1/4 in x 12 in dowels
  • Miter saw
  • Rotary Tool
  • Drill with 1/4 drill bit
  • Sander
  • Wood glue
  • Wood stain (optional)
  • Polyurethane

Instructions

Take once piece of wood and measure/mark at 13" on one end. Set the miter saw to 22.5 degree angle and stand cedar wood on its side (width side upright)and cut at mark. The other end of the wood should be 90 degree angle cut.

Take the other piece of wood and measure/mark at 14 inches. Set the miter saw to 22.5 degree angle and stand cedar wood on its side and cut at mark. Again the other end of the wood should be at 90 degree angle cut.

Drill two pocket holes using the pocket hole jig to the bottom of the 13" wood piece on the angled end.

Two pocket holes drilled at angled end of wood piece

Using the 1/4th drill bit drill 3/8th deep holes at a 22.5 degree angle into the 14" board being careful to not drill through the board. Drill holes at 2.25",5.25",8.25"and 11.50"from the top of the board with the 90 degree angle cut.

Using the rotary tool carve out a 3"x 2" bowl on the 13" board. Center the bowl in the middle of the board. Once bowl is carved out to your liking, sand smooth.

Sand both pieces of wood and stain if desired. Polyurethane both pieces of wood and let dry.

Using the wood clamps and pocket holes screws connect the two angled pieces of wood together. The two pieces should be flush on the table.

Cut the dowels at a 22.5 degree angle at 11", 9", 7", 5" on one end. The other end of the dowel should be a 90 degree cut.

Apply wood glue to the angled end of the dowel and place into pre drilled hole. This should be done one at a time and held into place until glue has set.

Once glue has cured you can paint or stain the dowels.

Project Done.

You are all done and ready to hang earrings, rings or bracelets on your new jewelry stand.
