Entry Door Before & Afterfeatured
Modern door reno!
I have been wanting to update my front door for the longest time. The main reason for the update is that we were experiencing air leaking around the original door. This was a problem that weather-stripping was not going to fix!
The original door was steel and very sturdy but also very cold in the winter months. I wanted a contemporary door that matched our home, gave us privacy and of course stopped the air leaking problem. Previously, we had installed a set of low profile, black-iron, french patio doors that are front facing and I wanted the front door to match.
I like iron doors because they are secure and durable. Iron is resistant to moisture, rot, fire and insects. Iron doors come in beautiful patterns and finishes and will instantly make your home elegant and luxurious. The doors are eye catching or as my husband says they are "blind benders".
Iron doors do need a little maintenance to keep them looking amazing. To keep my iron doors in good condition, I clean them twice a year. I use a small amount of oil based soap and water and clean the doors with a cloth. Gently rinse and then wipe the doors down with WD-40. I have not seen any rust spots form and it keeps my doors a deep, rich-black and shiny.
For this renovation I decided to go with a custom oversized, low iron profile, black door. I also painted the flower pot black and replaced the door mat. I wanted to keep the front entry simple so that the doors demand all the attention.
I am in love with this door and it is giving me all the curb appeal and a fresh new look!
